We drove out west into The Wilderness to the Monastery of Mar Saba, used by the Desert Fathers and established in the 5th Century by St Sabas; overlooking the Kidron River. On a high rock by the monastery we shared a morning liturgy.
The location was so isolated and beautiful — a place where early Christians devoted themselves to prayer and worship of God.
