On the way back to Blackberry Inn, we called into the next town, Groveland, where there is the longest continuously open drinking saloon in California, opened in 1885. Somehow they managed to stay open even during prohibition! We enjoyed a pint of their local brew — very tasty. There was a great atmosphere in the bar, and once again, folk were very happy to chat and exchange a word.
