The second day in the city took us to the Met, on the East side of Grand Park. We knew the collection was going to contain a remarkable selection of items, and also in wonderful settings. But the section devoted to Africa, Oceania and the Americas for me was the most powerful. This standing figure from Mexico was dated 12th-9th Century BC.
