The Bay of Vlore is where the Adriatic and Ionian seas divide. The palm tree lined Main Street gives way to a long stretch of beach. It has a long history, being the place where Albania claimed independence from the Ottomans in 1912 and much more.
During the day it’s a sizzlingly hot beach resort; in the evening the whole city pours onto the streets, promenading in animated conversation and enjoying the cool of dusk.
