Saranda is the premier beach resort of Albania, even in communist times. It’s on a tight horseshoe bay facing the western tip of Corfu. There are frequent ferries across to Corfu, the quickest is 30 minutes. I’ve got a great hotel high up on the 6th floor with wonderful views. To me it feels a bit over developed and too full of bars and noise. Though awakening at 5.30am after my fist night , and seeing the sun fill the bay, and fisherman casting nets in the water makes me feel slightly more at home!
